Executive Director
Merit contractors association of Newfoundland and Labrador represents the interests of contractors and their employees in the province’s open shop construction sector. Merit also provides human resources-related solutions such as comprehensive benefit plans, retirement programs, job search assistance and more to its members.
Reporting to the board of directors, the Executive Director will be responsible for fulfilling the mandate and business plan of the association and be accountable for managing day-to-day operations while ensuring that goals, timelines and expenditures are met. The Executive Director will act as the principal spokesperson on all issues affecting the association and will be the liaison at all levels of government regulatory and other industry associations. The Executive Director is also primarily responsible for increasing merit’s profile and membership.
The successful applicant must have relevant post secondary education and/or management experience; be self motivated and willing to initiate activities and projects in the best interest of merit; possess strong organizational skills and administrative abilities; have a working knowledge of sales, insurance benefits, marketing tactics and skills.
The successful applicant should have experience reporting to a board of directors and a background in the construction industry. Excellent oral and written communication skills would be an asset.
