HRA's Carol Gabanna chaired the 2009 International Policy Governance Association Conference in Montreal.  Naturally, it was a success with 178 people attending from Canada, the United States, the Netherlands, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Jordan and Thailand.

The participants came from various types of organizations: schools, hospitals, credit unions, professional associations, family service centres, faith based organizations, universities, colleges, sport organizations.  They chose between a variety of workshops and presentations from twenty-one speakers on topics such as Policy Governance Fundamentals; Message Management for Governance; Creating Board Culture; Connect with Owners to Create Powerful Ends; Advanced Monitoring with OnTarget Consulting; CEO Monitoring; Publicly Elected Boards; Appreciative Inquiry; Getting the Right People to the Board Table.
