Carol Gabanna’s passion is learning – her client’s, her colleague’s and her own. As an expert facilitator, Carol stimulates personal and group excellence, whether it is teaching a group of managers how to manage employee performance, facilitating an organization’s strategic planning or teaching a board how to govern their non profit organization. She draws on her experiences in a variety of organizations as a manager, a CEO, a board member and an employee. While she loves all the training and facilitation that she does, governance training and consulting is her passion.
Carol is an accredited practitioner in the Insights® Discovery system, a personal development tool which gives people an understanding of how their personality affects their personal and professional relationships.
Carol is co-author of The OnTarget Board Member: 8 Indisputable Behaviors, published in 2007 and The Policy Governance Fieldbook published in 1998. She has published articles in several national publications. She works with boards of every size in many fields including health, education, arts, community-based organizations and public institutions. Carol knows that the job of the board is critical, and the board members’ time is precious. She says, " There is wisdom in ordinary people and what fuels my passion is finding ways to draw out and connect with that wisdom, especially in all of those ordinary, but special people who sit on boards."
Carol says she would rather read than eat, so she spends lots of spare time reading. When she is not reading, she is cooking – she loves to entertain, find new recipes and try them out on friends and family.
